Willow Brook Second Graders receive music instruction twice each week for two 40-minute class periods.

  • 2B - Mrs. Baris' class - Tuesday and Friday
  • 2E - Mrs. Eilermann's class - Wednesday Thursday
  • 2P - Mrs. Perkin's class - Monday - Thursday

PROGRESS REPORTS are prepared three times each year and distributed with report cards from other areas of study.

For Second Grade Students, Pattonville Music Teachers have identified the following areas of instruction.

  CURRICULAR AREAS OF FOCUS
  RHYTHM/METER Identify and perform half notes and half rests
METER Demonstrate duple and triple meter
MELODY Play and sing sol, mi, and la patterns
Identify the music staff and placement of mi, sol and la on the staff
HARMONY & TEXTURE Play and sing a melodic ostinato
EXPRESSIVE QUALITIES Identify and define loud (forte) and soft (piano)
FORM Identify and use the repeat sign
Differentiate between verse and refrain
HISTORY / CULTURE Experience multicultural styles of music
TONE COLOR Distinguish between various pitched percussion instruments
VOCAL/INSTRUMENTAL Demonstrate recognition of well known orchestral instruments
